This interactive certification program is designed for bank practitioners from front office, back office and central units; its purpose being to provide them with a broad and comprehensive grounding in all facets of the assessment and management of credit risk. The program will open by looking at the latest international regulatory and economic developments that banks and other financial institutions are having to deal with in relation to their credit related activities. It will then go on to consider how this is influencing the common organizational structures that are being adopted to help banks deal with the additional demands being placed on them, whilst still enabling them to manage credit risk in an efficient and cost-effective way. Whilst the program content will focus primarily on the analysis of SME borrowing customers, it will be explained throughout how the analytical principles discussed might be applied to other customer segments. This will enable delegates to consider the different types of credit risk incurred by many large banks in a more strategic way. One of the challenges of credit analysis can be that practitioners are often overwhelmed with too much information. This program will help them to adopt a structured approach to the assessment of the available detail to focus analysis on crucial risk drivers. This in turn will help delegates understand how to develop an integrated strategy for the identification, analysis and mitigation of credit risks, both at individual client as well as a portfolio level. Throughout the program, delegates will have the opportunity to enhance their learning through the review of case studies, work on group-exercises and by participating in group discussions. This will enable them to develop in a practical way a new approach towards complex analytical tasks. Importantly, the group work undertaken as part of the program will give delegates that opportunity to build a network with other practitioners, supporting the exchange of ideas and solutions on credit risk management that will be of use in the future.
To provide participants with a broad and solid grounding in the analysis and quantification of credit risk as it applies to a financial institution; with focus on SME and Mid Corporate borrowers.
The training is ideally suited to anybody already in, or aspiring to migrate into, a business management role within a financial institution.
It will also be extremely relevant to staff directly involved in credit sanctioning or credit administration, including those working in Second or Third “Line of Defence” roles.
Ideally, attendees will not be new-to-role, as the training is not aimed at foundation level. However, if they have experience of working with financial statements, then exceptions can be made.
